What changed for 2027

The first cohort on a new course carries the risk

1

A new syllabus

The English 11–12 Syllabus (2024) replaces the 2017 course. Year 12 starts it in Term 4 2026 and sits the first HSC exam on it in 2027.

2

New prescribed texts

NESA's HSC English prescriptions 2027–2030 set a new list. The text your school has chosen is new to the course.

3

Nothing written about it

No text guides. No past HSC questions. No published marker feedback. No essays from the students above you.

4

Everyone starts from zero

Your teacher is building this program for the first time, in the same year you sit the exam.

Parents keep asking us the same question: has anyone actually written the material for these texts yet.

HSC writing and confidence

We’ve had an excellent experience working with Ian as my child’s English tutor. Over their time together, my child’s English assessment results improved significantly, and his writing became much more effective—an essential skill for the HSC, where strong essay responses make such a difference. More importantly, Ian helped build my child’s confidence.

Advanced English, Year 12

Chloe was a great tutor for my son. He needed some assistance with Yr 12 English advanced & she was spot on. Her ability to communicate the current curriculum to both of us was professional and always timely. As a parent I felt more knowledgeable about HSC requirements thanks to Chloe’s guidance.

Common questions

Yes. The English 11–12 Syllabus (2024) replaces the 2017 syllabus. Schools start teaching Year 12 content in Term 4 2026, and 2027 is the first HSC examined on it. A new prescribed text list applies at the same time.

Yes. Tell us your school and English level and we'll help you work out which text you're likely to get. If it changes, we'll move you into the right class at no cost.

A text-specific class spends ten weeks on one prescribed text, with a workbook written for that text. A module-specific class covers the Common Module and Modules A–C for any text, and you apply the learning to the text your school has set.

HSC-style questions we've written against the current rubric and marking criteria, a full common focus area practice paper in Week 8, and two weeks on unseen texts, which is half of Paper 1 and doesn't depend on your prescribed text at all.

Nobody in NSW has taught these texts under this syllabus yet, us included. What we have is a complete written course and fifteen years of teaching students to write a Band 6 essay for the common focus area (previously called the Common Module). The rubric, the criteria and the exam structure are what earn the marks.

Yes. The classes cover Standard and Advanced English, and text-specific classes are grouped by prescribed text.

No. It supports it. Your teacher's work and your school's requirements come first, and the class is built to fit around them.

Two-week money-back guarantee on term classes. After that you can move your remaining balance to 1-on-1, or we'll rematch your tutor at no cost.

The year above you can't help with this one.

New text, new course, nothing written about it yet. Get a class built around the text your school has set, with the workbook already written and the term already mapped.
